Obama, Character, and His Better Associates

An Associated Press report in suntimes.com said that "an attorney who volunteered to help Barack Obama improve his relationship with Muslim and Arab-Americans has resigned from the campaign amid questions about his connection to a fundamentalist imam. Mazen Asbahi...an associate at the Chicago law firm Schiff Hardin, said in his letter that he served on the board of the Dow Jones Islamic Index Fund for a few weeks, but resigned ‘'as I became aware of public allegations against another member of the board.'" [italics added]

An Obama advisor resigned because of allegations about someone else with whom he found himself serving? OMG. Someone in the Obama camp has scruples. Asbahi's resignation is not at all like the precedent set by the candidate himself after all the published and proven evidence of his connections with domestic terrorists, not only Bill Ayers but Acorn. [see Obama, Character, and American Exceptionalism and Inside Obama’s Acorn ]

Then there is the connection, now severed, with Obama's long-time minister Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. He also had an association with Frank Marshall Davis, identified only as Frank in Obama's memories "Dreams from My Father," a radical activist and journalist had been suspected of being a member of the Communist Party in the 1950s. Obama was introduced to "Frank" in 1970 at age 10. "In 1968, Davis published a hard-core pornographic autobiography under a pseudonym."

"During the the years that Ayers and Obama served on the board of the Woods Fund, [ ] they voted to donate $75,000 to the Arab American Action Network (AAAN), co-founded by Rashid Khalidi, a long time supporter of Palestinian 'resistance' attacks against Israel."

"He has been accused of being an influential apologist for Yasser Arafat. At the University of Illinois, Khaldi and Obama and Michelle Obama and also Ayers and Dohrn were part of the same circle. He funded a fund raiser for Obama in 2000 when Obama ran an unsuccessful campaign for the U. S. House of Representatives. Obama and Michelle were part of the farewell party for Khaldi when he left Chicago for New York." http://us-elections.suite101.com/article.cfm/obama_questionable_connections

The other board member causing Asbahi’s resignation was Jamal Said, imam at a fundamentalist-controlled mosque in Illinois. The Justice Department named Said as an unindicted co-conspirator in the racketeering trial last year of several alleged Hamas fundraisers.

The Republican National Committee filed a complain with the Federal Election Commission Monday, 10.06.08, accusing the Obama campaign of taking contributions from foreign nationals who are banned by U.S. law from giving to U.S. federal candidates. This story was broken by the website "Atlas Shrugs," http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/obamas_foreign_contributions/ in "The story that Atlas broke (back on July 30th) and that Newsweek's Isikoff plagiarized."

Then there is the question: Is Obama A U.S. Citizen? ""Phillip Berg has filed a suit in Federal court. [Denver Dem Convention: Clinton Supporter Files to Disqualify Obama] The suit was against Barack Obama and the Democrat National Committee. It asked the court to force Obama to prove he is an American citizen.

Obama, among other things chose to "Hire the top gun attorney from the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to fight the case." http://deathby1000papercuts.com/2008/10/obama-birth-cerificate-federal-lawsuit-the-curious-behavior-of-the-obama-campaign/ CAIR has been linked for more than a decade by the Justice Department as a domestic terrorist organization begun by former Yassar Arafat and Hammas coordinators.

Why is it that one of the few advisors to the Obama campaign who has been upfront, protecting his own integrity not to mention the Obama campaign, is a Muslim who does not wish to have his own "Obama-type mistakes" of association?

If there is not more to the story of the resignation of Mazen Asbahi than I have been able to discover, my hat is off to a patriotic Muslim American.

Is Ayers Connection "Issue Oriented?"

It is my opinion that this subject is as "issue oriented" as the economy or the wars. I asked several friends of mine the very same questions I found posted on someone else's website:

"I wish someone would ask [Obama]
just once: 'Then tell me, would it be ok for a child who was eight years old on
9/11–to then have a friendship with Osama bin Laden later in life as an
adult'"?
–comment at Free Republic on Obama’s friendship with Bill
Ayers;
Death by 1000 Papercuts http://deathby1000papercuts.com/2008/09/obama-domestic-terrorist-bill-ayers-the-tangential-bill-ayers/

It matters not that Obama has since denounced Bill Ayers, who after 9/11 said his organization, the Weather Underground, which threatened and bombed domestic government agencies and buildings, and in doing so murdered people, said his organization "didn't do enough." http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2008-38,GGLJ:en&q=weathermen

It doesn't matter, because once the connection has been made, once a man serves on several boards with such a terrorist--who is reformed and educated yet who says his group "didn't do enough,"--and who launched his campaign with the help of the terrorist--in his living room as has been reported--it is irrelevant whether he cuts the connection and denounces the man who he served with and who helped him get his political start. By the time the media and public finds out, it is simply too late to back out of the events that took place.

Obama reputedly did not cut his ties with Ayers until 2002, but as "Just a reminder: in 2001, for an article in Chicago Magazine, Barack Obama’s friend William Ayers proudly allowed himself to be photographed stepping on a United States flag." from little green footballs http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/31471_William_Ayers_Stepping_on_the_US_Flag_in_2001

But the larger issue is not only Ayers. It is Obama's connections with other people whom the public and the critics have had to denounce, like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and Ayer's wife, Bernardine Dohrn, who during the days of the Weathermen carried C4 plastic explosives on her body in the manner of Muslim "suicide--(i.e., homocide)--bombers."

What is "issue oriented" about McCain's attacks on Obama's associates relates directly to the poor judgment of Obama in choosing his associates. And that is an issue we cannot afford to ignore.

As was mentioned in yesterday "exceptionalism also refers to the egalitarian, justice-oriented America. "In 1835 Alexis de Tocqueville discussed American exceptionalism in 'Democracy in America', and he is still correct. There was then and there continues to be now in this country a remarkable commitment to liberty, egalitarianism, individualism, and laissez-faire values." But exceptionalism, in the minds of some, also refers to the egalitarian, justice-oriented America.

"At least one of Senator Obama's leading foreign policy advisers, Samantha Power, wants to recapture that interventionist spirit."

And that is what may be so disconcerting about an Obama Administration: Who among the foreign leaders Obama would be free to have a discussion with "no preconditions," would he choose to associate with? Some of the nations of the world "who don't like us very much," to quote John McCain, have already given their approval to the idea of our electing "President Obama."

Islamic Takeover of U.S. Already Under Way

Author Brigitte Gabriel, an expert on terrorism, is warning the United States should be fighting Islamization. She should know: She watched it happen in her native Lebanon.
"Lebanon used to be the only majority Christian country in the Middle East," Gabriel told radio talk show host
Andrea Shea King in a recent hour-long interview. "They tried to impose their way of thinking on us, and they succeeded," she said.
Gabriel is fearful that terrorists believe now is the time to strike at America, while it is distracted by financial tension and election turmoil. condensed from WorldNetDaily Exclusive

Obama, Character, and American Exceptionalism

Obama, Character, and American Exceptionalism

"This past week, Sarah Palin and the McCain campaign began doing what the [New York] Times failed to do: investigate the years-long association between Barack Obama and domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers. [ ] Instead of investigating, the Times’ writer hurls invective at the McCain campaign for having the nerve to bring up the unpleasant matter. Just minutes after the [2nd] debate ended [Tuesday] night, the New York Times projectile-vomited a load of anti-McCain-Palin vitriol disguised as an unsigned editorial. No wonder its author wished to remain anonymous: the editorial hurled unsubstantiated charges at the McCain-Palin campaign while purposely ignoring or covering up information that it finds unhelpful to its viewpoint." from DBKP http://deathby1000papercuts.com/2008/10/barack-obama-bill-ayers-ny-times-continues-to-whitewash-obama-ayers-connection/

The idea of Barak Obama as President bothers me. If he wins, the entire world will have to wait-and-see whether his socialistic proposals go as far--or further--than anyone imagines, and whether Congress and the Courts will let him get away with what he attempts to do.

Being a Constitutional lawyer and law professor as he is, he will probably get away with as much as he wants to, in the Courts. This is because the Courts won't hear any cases based on Obama's socialist programs until they have been signed into law and libertarians and others bring suits. And Obama knows what the Supreme Court Justices would think of the various ideas he may try to implement.

Not that more socialism is going to matter. Socialism is now unstoppable. The conservatives are merely conserving that which has been a fact since the New Deal, conserving the idea that government can do some things that are socialistic for the public good, but for the time being it is not to the public good to do more; "Wait a while," they seem to imply, "then we'll see how much more we can go along with."
The obvious and very large recent departure from the conservatism of the Republicans came when they helped craft and then pass in both Houses the bank and mortgage bail out bill.

Socialism is a fact of politics in almost the entire world, and some nations have less socialism than America, the land of the free. It's coming, and it may be only a short matter of time, now, before John Galt begins to shrug. But he isn't shrugging yet, because everyone believes there may be a way back from the brink of European-type entitlements. But it is this very lack of our socialism not being on par with most of the rest of the world, that contributes to the new definitions of "American Exceptionalism." Alexis de Tocqueville defined it as our greatness. To many in this new century it means our apartness from the rest of the world; we are not "in tune" with it.

But what worries me deeply is Obama's apparent bad judgment about the company he keeps, and the company he once said he would make. His connection with Bill Ayer's may be severed now, but no self-respecting libertarian (with a small "l", which is most of America) would have had anything more to do with Ayers than accidentally winding up on one board or commission with him. That Obama served with Ayers, had to have been friendly with Ayers since they lived in the same neighborhood, and allowed Ayers, in his own living room, to throw him an election send-off event at the start of his Illinois Senate run, is not what I would have done. What would I have done? Keep reading.
"William Ayers, in the age of terrorism, will be Barack Obama's Willie Horton," said former counterterrorism official Larry C. Johnson. The Huffington Post Feb. 16, 2008.

So far that has not happened, and I will admit that maybe there is less to Obama's connection with the former member of the radical Weather Underground Organization that claimed responsibility for a dozen bombings between 1970 and 1974, and who said to the New York Times in September 2001, "I don't regret setting bombs...I feel we didn't do enough."

"President" Obama would not be the first President to have connections, tenuous but palpable, with members of the Weather Underground. President Clinton " commuted the sentences of a couple of convicted Weather Underground members, Susan Rosenberg and Linda Sue Evans, shortly before leaving office in January 2001." Washingtonpost.com http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2008/02/obamas_weatherman_connection.html

But Ayers is Not the Only Questionable Connection Obama Has
There is, besides Ayers, Obama's "intimate and long-term association with the 'Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now,'" (Acorn.) [see "Inside Obama's Acorn" http://freeassemblage.blogspot.com/2008/09/god-belieforiginal-intent.html "Obama's ties to Acorn - arguably the most politically radical large-scale activist group in the country - are wide, deep, and longstanding. If Acorn is adept at creating a non-partisan, inside-game veneer for what is in fact an intensely radical, leftist, and politically partisan reality, so is Obama himself. This is hardly a coincidence: Obama helped train Acorn's leaders in how to play this game." Stanley Kurtz; nationalreviewonline http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NDZiMjkwMDczZWI5ODdjOWYxZTIzZGIyNzEyMjE0ODI=

Acorn is the successor to the 1960’s agenda of anti-capitalism, writes Kurtz. Acorn, he says, quoting Sol Stern’s 2003 City Journal article, “ACORN’s Nutty Regime for Cities," grew out of “'one of the New Left’s silliest and most destructive groups, the National Welfare Rights Organization.' In the 1960’s, NWRO launched a campaign of sit-ins and disruptions at welfare offices. The goal was to remove eligibility restrictions, and thus effectively flood welfare rolls with so many clients that the system would burst. The theory, explains Stern, was that an impossibly overburdened welfare system would force “a radical reconstruction of America’s unjust capitalist economy.” Instead of a socialist utopia, however, we got the culture of dependency and family breakdown that ate away at America’s inner cities — until welfare reform began to turn the tide."
"Acorn" is, as of today, under investigation in ten states for voter fraud.

"It is time for a Bretton Woods for this century," reports the Telegraph, noting that "'Opinion is now hardening around the case for a new global architecture to enforce rules that ensure lessons are learnt.'

"Influential media giants like the Wall Street Journal are pushing a "new world order" to solve the crisis, while British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called for a "a new global financial order" to supersede the institutions created after World War II.

"The elite are up to their old tricks again, after all, a leopard never changes its spots.
They created the problem of wildly irresponsible fractional reserve banking, the debt bubble and the credit crunch by ceaselessly inflating the money supply and now they are going to offer their solution to the crisis - the further centralization of global economic power into fewer hands.

Obama to Deploy Troops to America’s Health-Care Sector

last night’s presidential debate:
"Barack Obama: So one of the things that I have said from the start of this campaign is that we have a moral commitment as well as an economic imperative to do something about the health care crisis that so many families are facing…
"Tom Brokaw: What is the Obama doctrine for use of force that the United States would send when we don’t have national security issues at stake?

You’ve been warned." The blog of the

Rep. Brad Sherman: Congress Threatened with Martial Law if Bailout Not Passed

"A Democrat, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA), makes a claim that was televised on C-SPAN that some congressmen were told that if the bailout bill wasn’t passed, there would be “martial law in America”–and the Mainstream Media is silent.

"Lobbyists and House aides were gossiping this week that House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) angrily told the more diminutive Sherman in front of his colleagues at a Democratic caucus meeting last week to “shut up and sit down.”

"On the martial law theme, there were a few articles mentioning “a little-noticed story…a couple of weeks ago in the Army Times newspaper about the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team.

A little-noticed story surfaced a couple of weeks ago in the Army Times newspaper about the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team. “Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months,” reported Army Times staff writer Gina Cavallaro, “the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.” Disturbingly, she writes that “they may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control” as well.
